Signing up participants

Before you can complete your assessment, you need to identify and enter information about each person who will be participating. Follow the guidelines for selecting participants to create a list of the people in your company whose input should be included in the assessment.

You should be prepared to enter a brief amount of identifying information about each participant. Here's what you'll need:

  • First and last name of participant
  • E-mail address (very important)
  • The person's role in the company (you will select from a list of roles)
  • Does the person work in the company? (Yes/No)
  • Is the person a family member? (Yes/No)

Be careful to clearly distinguish persons with similar names--a common situation in family businesses. Use suffixes such as Jr., Sr. or middle initials to distinguish individuals with the same name. For example Margaret A. Brown and Margaret B. Brown. Nicknames are OK to use, if that is what the person is comfortable with. The objective is for you to be able to clearly identify each participant by the information in the system. The name you type in will also be used to address the person in various e-mail messages that are generated automatically throughout the assessment process, so we suggest using the name by which the participant prefers to be addressed. For instance, if Robert Brown goes by Bob Brown, then register him as Bob Brown.

Each of the participants for which you entered an e-mail address will automatically receive an e-mail message inviting them to participate in the assessment. The message will contain their user ID and password, which will be needed to login and complete the questionnaire. If any of the participants do not have an e-mail address, you will need to communicate their user ID and password to them.
